LIVE FROM THE BELLY OF A WHALE

Mi Casa is currently developing LIVE From the Belly of a Whale – a concert with stories. Originally titled “Tales From the Gasoline Coast” it features original songs by Nicolas Di Gaetano and text by Emily Pearlman. We are still trying to figure out how it all goes together but it is currently in development as a part of residency with the Great Canadian Theatre Company. Stay tuned for more updates and a workshop presentation later in the year.
For demo versions of a few of the songs from the score, please check out the Tales From the Gasoline Coast Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/talesfromthegasolinecoast
It has gone through two workshops, first in December 2008 with musicians Rolf Klausner, Pat Johnson, and Andrew Buttko, and creators Di Gaetano, Pearlman, Catriona Leger, Jill Connell, and Brad MacNeil. In August 2009, with the support of the Ottawa Arts Council and a GCTC creator’s reserve grant, Di Gaetano and Pearlman further explored the theatrical potentials of the songs with Catriona Leger, Duncan Cameron, Miriam Westland, Jackson Andrews, Patrick Gauthier and Simon Bradshaw.
